Why AI misreads your PDF (and how to fix it)
Paste a PDF straight into ChatGPT or Claude and you often get a confident, wrong answer. The AI isn't broken — the text it received was. Here's why it happens, and how to give AI a clean version it can actually read.
What breaks when you paste a raw PDF into AI
A PDF stores how a page looks, not how it reads. When the text is pulled out, the structure falls apart:
- Columns get interleaved, so sentences from two columns are mixed together line by line.
- Tables collapse into a run-on wall of numbers with no rows or columns.
- Page headers, footers, and page numbers land in the middle of sentences.
- Line breaks split words and paragraphs in the wrong places.
- The AI reads this mess literally and answers based on garbled input.
The fix: clean it first
Upload your PDF and get clean, structured Markdown — headings, lists, and real tables restored, repeated boilerplate stripped — ready to paste into any AI. No sign-up, and your file is deleted within 60 minutes.

What LessTokens actually does

- Fixes broken line breaks and letter-spaced text from PDF extraction.
- Keeps every word of your real content — nothing is summarized or invented.
Questions
Will this make ChatGPT or Claude give better answers?
It removes a common cause of wrong answers: garbled input. When the AI receives clean, correctly-structured text, it is no longer misled by broken layout. It cannot answer something the document does not actually contain.
Does it work on scanned or image-only PDFs?
Not yet — this preview does not include OCR. If a PDF has no extractable text, the tool tells you honestly instead of returning empty output, and never pretends a document was converted when it was not.
Is my file private?
Files are processed temporarily, never used to train AI, and automatically deleted within 60 minutes. See the privacy policy for the full detail.
File retention
Uploaded originals and conversion results are temporary. They are not kept as a permanent document library.
- Uploaded originals are used only to produce your Markdown result and are deleted as soon as processing ends, or within 60 minutes at the latest.
- Conversion results and job records are available for up to 60 minutes, then expire and are automatically removed from the active database.
- We do not keep a permanent document library. Limited provider-managed infrastructure snapshots may retain residual copies for up to 5 days before automatic expiry.
- Uploaded originals are held in temporary local storage only while the job is processed. Recurring cleanup removes any expired temporary upload left by an interruption.
